The Coolaser treatment, typically an hour long, uses lasers to remove the outermost layer of the skin. First, the entire face is numbed, using a topical cream.
After this is done, a series of light pulses are flashed on the surface of the skin. The skin cells absorb the energy of the light, which causes the instantaneous vaporization of the superficial cells and results in a smoother, clearer and more even skin tone.

Though healing takes 10 to 12 days, a significant percent improvement in the appearance of the scars may be expected, depending on the type and extent of scarring. A single session may not treat the acne scars entirely if they are too deep. These deeper acne scars can be corrected by injections under the skin to fill in or build up the pitted areas.
