What Is a Treatment Session Like?

Lasers deliver precise but powerful energy directly to the skin’s tissues. However, these occur in quick bursts, so there is no sustained discomfort during a treatment session. Instead, patients may feel a sensation like a rubber band snapping against the skin. Patients typically tolerate it easily, and they may have a topical numbing cream applied ahead of time for more sensitive skin. Expect about 30 minutes on average for a session, though it can take up to 60 minutes for certain body areas or concerns. Dr. Ourian can let you know ahead of time what your treatment duration will be. So you can plan accordingly.

How Is the Recovery?

Some laser systems can result in patients taking 2 weeks or longer off from work while redness fades. Depending on the intensity of your laser treatment at Epione, you can expect redness and swelling for about 1 week on average. The upper layers of skin (that is, the damaged age skin) will eventually flake off and reveal healthier, tighter skin beneath.
